One more Q: Let's say you want your layout to be symetrical, for like a dueling coaster, can we put a 3 square length in the middle of 4 squares? To be more descriptive:

i think you aren't allowed to make it this way because in the game you can't do it either.

No, everything has to be in a square grid. It's nice to see you have the pieces made, when you have decided on a shape you can switch the connectors out for snowflakes so you can connect them all.

Your L and Z shapes are facing the same direction. You have an L and a mirrored L to work with, not two L's. Same for the Z's

You have to build an outline with the given shapes in the regular knex pieces. If you build smaller then it's okay, but we need to make sure it meets the contest requirements. We still want you to build the base so we don't have to dissapoint you later on that it did not meet the requirements. It merely a check.
