If you put a penny on your knee watch it float. But

when the car goes Horizontal the penny is goin fly back and hit you in the head, thats

why you dodge it. duh

When I read his first thread, I knew what he was

saying: what would be a good first coaster, not what to ride first in the park. Back

when I rode my first few coasters, something like MF or TTD would have been only

for sight seeing, because they're both huge and two of the tallest rides in the

world.

Just want to reiterate what others have said; coasters are a blast,

once you get over the fear/height part. My first rides were some of the most horrible

experiences, because I rode them scared, meaning I held my breath and tightened my

entire body and stomach the whole time. That in itself is painful, but g's and

weightlessness make the pain even worse (and I'm talking real pain). The first

thing to do is RELAX!!, BREATH!!, and yes take a friend

(whose ridden rides before) as encouragement. You'll be safer than you would

be walking down the street (real statistics, as 1 in about 10 million or so die of an

amusement park ride each year). Start with a woody if you can. They're not

really fast, but just the tightness of the structure makes it seem fast. They're

usually not high, but the rattle and turns make it all exciting and hopefully enjoyable

(sorry I can't suggest one from CP; never been but someone can suggest a good

one). And woodies give you the best opportunity to practice some hands in the air

action, which is one of my favorite parts of riding now. Move on to a steel looper; a

smoother, different feel and also not as tall as the other monsters. Raptor would also

be a good one to give a try as one of the first few. B&M inverts are really

smooth, the drops usually aren't weightless falls (weightlessness made me sick

at first), and inversions are too a lot of fun (nice g's in and out).

From there, it's just a matter of feel. If you've enjoyed your first couple

rides, you may feel amped and ready to try bigger. If not, give one you've ridden

another try. I can't stress enough how important it is to relax and breath through

the whole ride, especially right before you leave the station. If you're tense or

overly frightened, it will likely not be fun at all for you. There is nothing to be scared

of. And do, if you feel safe and up to it, try MF. I'd give a kidney to get up to CP

and ride it for myself, and this is from a guy who was afraid to ride the Scooby Doo

coaster at Kings Dominion (if it's still there). I went to Busch Gardens back in

the late 90's, scared of riding anything. And I passed up getting a ride on Draken

Fire (torn down a couple years ago after sitting for years). Now I regret ever being

afraid. Hopefully you have some good...no great first ride experiences, so you

won't regret missing a ride on one of your admired coasters.

Have

fun, relax, yell on the way down (helps loosen you up, really), and hold on only if you

have too. It's always better with your hands in the air...

Start w/ top thrill... and raise ur arms in the

air!!!! I should have done that as a first coaster but my first

coaster was space mountain i think. but my first REAL coaster was Raptor... and

how scared to death I was!!! Anyway, if you want to be serious, ride

something lame like the Iron Dragon. Try Disaster Transport. It's not intease,

really, but in the dark, it's really enhanced by that...

Lol, that's what make

coasters... FUN!!! is the element of fear. But make sure you

combine that w/ excitement...

Start

with a woody if you can.

They're too rough. Start w/ Jr Gemini. No... Start w/ Iron Dragon.

^You know, wooden coaster's are rough for a

reason! Not riding a woodie because it's rough is like not watching TV

because it's too bright. Everytime I go to Cedar Point I ride Blue Streak, it was

my first coaster, and it's great because it's not as small as rides like Iron

Dragon, but it's not as big as things like Millennium Force. In my Opinion Blue

Streak is a great first coaster.

Off topic: What happened to the site???

Back on topic: I find that Blue Streak and other small woodies aren't too

rough, but the larger woodies like Mean Streak are really rough for me. I'll never

go on SoB. But I'm not so much into woodies as I am to Steel rides. But I should

try more woodies, even if it means more brain damage. lol.

I love woodies and steelies. The one thing I hate

though is rough steels such as GASM @ SFGADV. It has OTSR and they absolutely

kill my neck.

As for rough woodies, the rougher the better...

That is a very good order. It's always smart to start

towards the back of the park. I always start with Blue Streak, then Corkscrew, then

Gemini, then Magnum, the I throw everything else in there usually by what we walk

by first.

Iron Dragon's a waste of time, IMO.

It's like... so slow and boring. (Except the joy of making fun of people who

scream, haha)

There's no right or wrong order to ride them.

The only reason it's good to start towards the back of the park is because less

people will be back there in the morning. Sometimes you might not be able to get all

the coasters in. Just for no wrong reason at all I'll post the "order" I

rode last time I went to the park.

1.Blue Streak...I was waiting in line

before the ride even opened. I got the first ride of the day!

2.Corkscrew

3.Magnum

4.Gemini

5. Woodstock

Exspress-Got my credit! Argh...I still didn't get my Jr.Gemini Credit

though.

6.Cedar Creek Mine Ride

7)Mean Streak-We saw

Rob Alvey and Elisa White there

8)Millennium Force-waited about 30

minutes

9)Mantis-waited about 45 minutes

LUNCH

10)Wildcat

11)Iron Dragon

12)Raptor-good later in the day

because less people are in line. A lot of people take the mistake of going to Raptor

first because it's the first thing you see. I've waited 45 minutes in the

morning for Raptor, and in the afternoon it was a near walk-on

13)Disastor

Transport

14)Wicked Twister

Unfortanatly we had to leave at

like 2:30 so we didn't have time for dragster

Iron Dragon is a good ride. Yeah its slow but its one

of a few remaining Suspended Swinging coasters. I have been on BBW and its one of

my favorite rides. Iron Dragon is a nice kiddy ride.

THe only problem with you list Crazed Piolet is that you

will be doing a whole lot of walking. Gemini is in the back of the park along with Mean

Streak Blue Streak is in the very front of the park. Start with Iron Dragon or Mean

Streak

Not if he goes in one of the other 3 entrances. I

walked the park 3 times a day when I was there for 2 straight days.

That still doesn't change what is in the back of the

park, You have your main entrance, the side entrance, and the rear entrance.

Maybe you misunderstood me. Twister II said he

should start at the front b/c he would be doing a lot of walking. So I said not if he used

another entrance such as the one near Soak City and Challenge Park. He

would'n thave to walk as far to start out with Mean Streak or Gemini, and he

could even walk to TTD if he gets in the park at 9.
