Look at this video: http://s17.photobuck...nt=S7300559.flv

It works If you butt the molded parts up to the regular lift parts. The spring is too big. On this set up I have, the spring only goes about 1/4 of an inch onto the new parts. I am actually going to cut that 1/4 of an inch as it is not needed. An 8 car inverted train will clear easily.

I know they just came out with a new model but it would be cool if they made a flying coaster like tatsu but shorter.

I think most people who complain about CD are people who can't afford it, so they try to justify it by saying the models are "too fast". We will see how their attitudes change once the new kit arrives. It has a lower price (probably close to $100 by the time some shops on the internet get hold of it).
Maybe we will even offer a sweet deal to members of this site, just to entice them to try it.....Hmmmmmmmmm.

What are you, the forum police? This thread had a post at the end of November. That is hardly "dead".

My partner and I started CD about 5 years ago. I was 37 and he was in his 20's. It is a side business for us, but this year we expect to take the business more mainstream with the new kit.

Just a note, I was not trying to say that CD is too fast because I cannot afford it. I think CD is well worth the money, and I could buy it if I wished to. Making it more affordable is great too. I seriously do think that the train runs very fast though. That would be the main downside to CD...

^then again, that is the case with knex. i learned this in physics, the gravity forced on a knex car/CD car and the gravity forced on a real rollercoaster car are the same, and the proportion of size to gravity is different in any small scale thing than it is on a real rollercoaster. so, unless motor powered, like that really weird california screamin thing on youtube, true "realism" will never be achieved.

hope that taught some people about physics :)

Well, looking at RCSlot.com, where I've found the cheapest CD prices, the Phoenix (new) is listed at $101.19 The Scorpion is $131.52 there as well....

yeah, but i think at some point it was at $400, so that just proves that a sucky set (in terms of instructions, etc.) can sell for more than a set which is the most realistic you can get without completely screwing the concept up.

Keep in mid that k'nex wildly overcharges for stuff, look at the 6 ft. ferris wheel. Also, the SS is taller and bigger, and also takes up more pieces.

A friend of mine has a website about CoasterDynamix: Roller Coaster Toys. I saw it, but do not like CoasterDynamix. It is expensive and there are less building possibilities than with Knex.
