Terminator Salvation: The Coaster opened two days ago. My friend and I arrived at the park at 9:30, an hour before it opened. Once we got into the park, we sprinted straight for Terminator. If you know anything about SFMM, Terminator is at the VERY back of the park. Also, there's a big hill right in the middle of the park. So we sprinted our guts out trying to get there as fast as possible. I'd say there were maybe 200 people in front of us (which is REALLY good).
The entrance to the ride marks the start of the line, as you pass under a massive TERMIANTOR sign:
Then you go right into the heart of the ride:
Some switchbacks:
A little theming along the way:
Then you come to a large building with closed doors:
It turns out to be pre-show 1. They only let a certain number of people go through at one time. Once inside, multiple TV screens describe the basic situation and story for the ride. Then a "security guard" escorts you through the rest of the line. You go through a really long tunnel, and then come into another room. More TV screens tell you more about the story of the ride. Also, some Terminator torsos hanging from the ceiling kinda move around:
After that, you climb some stairs, and come into the station area. The station fly-thru is really neat:
The trains:
Some more pics I took:
The ride is insane. Once you get to the top of the lift, you come around in a nice turn. Then you suddenly fly down a steep drop. It banks hard at the bottom, and the next 5-ft tall hill gives loads of airtime. Next comes the overbank, and as you pull out, a small bump gives some more sweet airtime. There's another floater bank, and then you go into a long tunnel through the lift and drop supports. Then you come flying out, over yet another floater bank, and rise up into the station fly-thru. Then you dive back down again, through another tunnel to the left, up a strangely-banked turning hill, and through a few more turns around the queue into the brake run. One of my top 3 at SFMM.
That's all for Terminator...

Seems like a very nice replacement for that POS Psyclone. Need to get back to Magic Mountain some day. It was very poorly run when I went a few years ago. Only a handful of the coasters were open.

^^ Terminator is a GREAT replacement for Psyclone. But IMO the park is run beautifully...
^ That stinks...
More pics from SFMM...
A bunch I took from the Sky Tower:
Also, they had some cool artifacts up in the Sky Tower:
And some pics I took from around the park:
And some really cool M&M stairs:

Awesome pictures. Terminator looks like a great ride, and much better than Psyclone, but I still don't get why they built a wooden coaster themed to metal things.
When I was there, the park wasn't terrible, but it wasn't ran in the best fashion. From what I've read over the years, the new management has really turned it around.

^ I agree, the park seems to have gotten better over the years.
Well basically, the story is that they are investigating Valencia (as one of the main actors called it, "a real wasteland"), and they find a bunch of people (the riders) stuck somewhere and the terminators are attacking. Almost everything has been destroyed. Then they find "the last working escape route" (the ride) and rush the people on to "get them out of there as fast as possible". Also, there's a bunch of old beaten-up cars and rusty walls, etc. to make it look like it's been attacked. Also, they didn't paint the ride, which adds to the effect.
