Dieing your knex dose make them shrink but not enough for you to notice for rods or connectors. But for X ties do shrink just enough to make it harder to keep the tubing on. The tubing when died becomes more flimsy and can cause your cars to loose speed. Also I would not recommend dieing rodes larger then yellow, or green, for they can bend wile they are hot. So be careful wile removing them and handling them wile hot. The flexie rods do work quite well but keep their shape more easily and the connectors all work really well and have given me no probables.

So some things that work for dieing are rods smaller then gray, connectors and I do think that cars would work but i have not tested them

Some things things that i would not recommend are X ties tubing and large gray rods.

Died knex still work perfectly fine unless you are careless wile dieing or you died some piece that i have just specified. And test the pieces that you are dieing just with a few at first just to see if you like the color and if they have turned out correctly.

Hope that helped BB

Seeing as this thread is back up, and I have information to add that will help the topic, without further ado:

How to Dye Plastic (IN A CAN!)

Vinyl dye - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Step 1: Buy vinyl dye at your local auto store
Step 2: Spray your pieces evenly following directions on can
Step 3: Let dry
Step 4: ???
Step 5: PROFIT

This is what I learned from modifying nerf guns. Vinyl Dye will dye any plastic, And it won't change the properties either.
