    a "Six Flags" day?

  • 592 posts

Posted 21 August 2009 - 06:38 AM

This is very creative, but I still have a couple questions.
1. What mode or temp should the stove be at?( ex.low, med low, med, medium high, etc.)
2. Is tubing possible? ( not many crosstie colors are going to go with purple tubing.
3 can pieces be re-dyed?
Thanks

If you look at his first post he dyed tubing. I would assume medium heat would be best. And I'm sure you could re-dye them but I'm not sure what effect it would have on the color and the strength of the part.

I'm curious to see a flex rod dyed. It would be cool to see an entirely red track.

^ and ^^Yes medum works well after you get it to a simmer just leave it on medum.
and I'm shure that you can dye them again but i don't know the efects.

Well this is the difrence in the tubing I built a small coaster to see the efects

Dyed
As you can see the dyed tubing is thinner thus creating un wanted bumps. And making your coaster lose speed quicker.

The flexies hold there shape after they are died and can bend just as far as normal flexies and, won't break. I Acualy think that thease are better because they are stronger and less likly to loose there shape.

How much does the tubing really effect the coaster? Like to a point where it wont make it anymore?

Do you have to use RIT die? or could it be another kind of brand? Same goes to the nail polish.

Rit dye is generally unbeatable. Try other if you want, but RIT is generally a winner. Ive dyed my ski boots before with no side effects, and since the die actually seeps into the plastic, it will stay unless you dye it again.

CCI, you can delete your own posts. Also, the best way to find out the answer to your question would be to PM someone who actually dyed their Knex. My guess is that you can.

EDIT: my bad.

If you were a former Elite, you can too... same for Donator.

And why does a date mean you can't post? Not like this is some thread from 5 years ago.

I forgot to say this a while back, NEVER, NEVER dye rods. They shrink and are then unusable.
