Vertical Viper Coaster & Corkscrew Coaster, two new coasters to add to the 4 set collectible amusement park builds sets released 2 years ago. Both new coasters use the plastic flex track introduced late last year. A third entry in the series just released is a Ferris wheel. No bricks in either coaster set, only about 10 pieces are not micro-knex scale. Retail at $24.

I also found the Sonic Blizzard coaster. I think it looks exactly like the hornet swarm coaster, except with different colors, cool cars, and speakers to play your i-pod with.

I remember when knex made good sets like BBF, and the Original coaster. These sets are absolute pieces of crap. Just like everything else that has come out of them recently. They are like a damn prostitute...

For a "good" set I'd recommend the new Space Mountain DisneyParks series set. Have only seen it on ebay, but it probably retails around $90 in Orlando or Anaheim.

$24 price probably comes from the piece count. At 318 or more pieces (475 in the Ferris wheel set) these sets are being marketed at around 7cents per element. Now its true these are micro-knex elements almost exclusively, but the cost to manufacture is more time and energy in making, cooling, and separating than plastic materials cost, so K'nex is keeping the price considerably lower than its competitors (Lego, MegaBloks, Fisher Price {Trio building system} etc.

Yeah, bring back the big coaster track and the giant building sets. Yeah, they were more expensive (on both sides), but they were damn awesome builds and got some awesome pieces out of it. Big Ball Factory had over 400 blue rods alone. Now these sets, while smaller, are at the amount with all of their pieces. None of the builds are that great or special anymore.

By the way fellow builders, knex does make a micro-rod that is cognate to the small black and green rods that allow you to connect different connectors with zero distance between them. They just haven't used them since the micro-scale OOC and Car sets of 5 years ago and you can order them. These allow you to duplicate almost any original scale Knex build at micro scale. They've got tons of these available in their warehouse.

The fact that these go together in an hour or 2 at most kinda defeats the whole "family" element Knex is trying to go for. I would rather take days to build something awesome with my Dad or someone then a hour for something small.

It would be nice if they would come out with just a huge set. It may cost a lot, but it would be a better value with more pieces.

But not like that damn ferris wheel. That is just stupid big and expensive. I am looking for something in the $100 range with 2000ish pieces...

Why cant the K'nex Company still build newer models of the Scremin Serpent or Rippin Rocket anymore? A new set of those would sell out rather quickly! They should at least try to build different rides and layouts and experiment with them.

They probably don't sell well enough or cost too much to produce.

No, they wouldn't fly off the shelves. It's a ratio of 250,000:1. For every K'Nex builder on this site who prefers the older sets, there are 250,000 K'Nex builders who prefer the newer sets.

^ haha, crunch the numbers dude, That's propably why they come out with theese things.

The big question is, is what the heck will they try to rip us off with next? some Box wit One SPEACIAL piece in it that's, like, $5.00? Only time will tell... Either that or K'nex...
