About the weight, can't you just use k'nex rods or something as a weight?

Thanks for the info! And your entering speed right? If so, I would guess you would have to keep it up unless you would want to build it again.

No, I am entering another coaster into it since Speed wasn't my best coaster, and I want planning on it. This is why I am finishing Bobsled by February 20-22 so I an start construction. It will be amazing, all I can say...

How would you get the rods to stick to the cars?

After a week that K'NEX did not get back to me, I decided to call the customer service hot line and got these answers for my questions.

1. Are lights able to be added to the ride for night-light effects to shine up on the lift? (This would be for the display at the actual park if our coaster won)

Yes, you are allowed to do this

2. Are rubber-bands allowed to be used to aid the ride?

Yes, but the operator said that she would get back to me if they are not allowed to be used

3. Is a pair of 6-12th graders and teacher acceptable as a "student group"?

Yes, two students and a teacher qualify as a "student lead group"

4. Are weights (pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters, etc.) allowed to be taped/hot-glued to the bottom of the Screamin' Serpent cars to add weight? This would be done to maintain speed throughout the coaster, and result in a longer layout with more inversions/elements, leading to a better coaster. (when the cars aren't weighted, the trains don't go through many elements and is hard to get a good outcome of a ride if it has a short layout) If weights are not added to the cars with hot-glue/tape, are the weights allowed to be taped together, then tied to the cars with string?

Just as I suspected they would say, no. Weights are not allowed to be taped/glued/tied onto the cars to maintain speed through out the ride

^Lucky you. I asked over 2 weeks ago and they said they'll get back to me, but no.

I'm just not going to participate in this, its almost pointless for me.

I'm in 6th! I can enter, maybe. I'm not in a group or a class project, but I just made an awesome tube supported coaster. I'm going to E-Mail CP/Knex and ask if I'm eligible to enter. Chances are, I can't enter. But hopefully I can, and I'll post my ride here sometime soon.

EDIT: Man! I have weights! I don't think it'd work without them!

Sucks, my tube coaster, WHICH IS FINISHED!!! can be used with and without weights thanks to its launcheness.

I guess I should do the same in emailing them pictures of the coaster because I actually really want to do it now.
WAIT?!?!?!?!?! Are we allowed to use drills!!?!!?!!?!!?!!

Those models are a joke. Isn't the one just the original roller coaster?

That's what I was going to say, for batum, and yes the original coaster is the exact same layout.

If I can actually get one of my many failure coasters to work, I will most definately enter this.

Just one question, is this an annual event, or is this just some random, one time offer events?

For those of you entering, I think you also have to use math to figure out the stats.
