You guys have probably heard that yet another Arrow suspended coaster, Avalanche, is being dismantled. It's sad to see them going so fast--they're such great coasters!

Anyway, I dropped by and took some pics of what's left of it.

Good ol' Arrow track:

But that's not the real reason for this TR. It turns out that the rumors going around about a new coaster for the 2011 season may be true. Now that Avalanche is gone, the park has a huge lot for a new coaster to be built.

Check out these construction markers I found:

Pretty strange...I'd love to hear some insight from you guys though. What do you think they have planned?

Oh, I like the title ;), and it looks very suspicious indeed. I can't wait to see what you plan to build out of these construction markers. I will stay tuned.

I don't know about you guys, but the last pic kinda looks like the spots where the lift's footers will be. This should prove to be interesting!

^ That's what I was going to say!

I'm going to guess that it's going to be box supports, and the footers are where the boxes will meet the ground, but as for the layout, that's a mystery all by itself. Can't wait to see more!!

I am guessing that it has a lift hill into a drop that turns about 30-45 degrees at the bottom, then an overbank or any other turn around element, then a camelback hill, an airhill, upward helix, brake run, then station which turns into the lifthill. Am I right???
If I am, I am shocked

I have seen that video as well. As I understood it, it was a prototype built by a certain company, but has not been used on any real rides yet. I'm skeptical about whether they'd use it on a coaster so soon.

EDIT: What! Okay, so apparently the company has made the video private so we can't see it anymore. Must be something that they didn't want posted publicly yet.

Now that you guys mention it, those markings do look just like footers for a lift hill...

Turns out that the launch seen in that video will be used. In fact, the whole thing has already been installed!
Although I haven't built the resetting mechanism yet, I'll work on the layout first. I'm itching to build!

I found a new method that is really helpful for planning out my coaster.

I have limited space because my dad won't sell the old furniture stored in this room even though we never use it :/ I had to figure out which direction the launch should face so that I can get my planned layout in. Now that I've laid down flexi-rods, I have a general shape to follow so I can keep all the elements in proportion. I think you guys will like the layout.

^ I don't think it will be a recreation, since he is that awesome custom coaster type of guy. It really looks nice steel, and I think it will be easy to follow the rods with your supports and track. But when following the rods, make sure that any straight spots are very smoothly flowing, and not straight with the track, unless intended.

Looks good Steel! There is a really sharp turn in it, but with the launch I saw on youtube speed won't be the problem. ;)

So I take it that the video you posted was yours and then you blocked it/ removed it because we were catching on?

Anyway, looks great so far! Can't wait to see how this will turn out!!

BTW, that turnaround/helix thing looks really sharp, unless its a half loopish element or immelman...
