Thanks! Hopefully this coaster keeps that up.I think the overall shape looks good.
....backwards? Thanks!looking good , i find it different that you are building backwards, but each to their own way.
I know you said you weren't gonna change the valley but have you tried shaping it with black y clips attached to the crossties? It makes it a lot easier to do a twist such as in Zero-g rolls. I really think You can make it work! If not I'm looking forward to the rest of the ride! I love the building guys!
I did make a few changes to the CR, and that middle support actually has 4 track-to-support connections. When I retrack the ride, hopefully it'll look better.
Well, PJAS is over, so I now have a life. Sadly, this coaster is going to be presented on Wednesday and I have to take it up to school tomorrow afternoon. I've got a bit done scenery-wise, but I've really been focusing on the trackwork. I'm very very scared the car won't make it through the layout backwards, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. The 2nd lift hill is operational, I just need to get the magnets in the car and track, and it'll be optional.
Before you comment on the loop, it's like that on purpose and won't be changing it's orientation (instead of looping left, it's looping right). This is because of the design of the cobra roll and lift hill angles (between eachother). Since I don't have the time to extend the cobra roll, nor want to, the only option for the loop and lift hill to meet up nicely is to stray a bit from the original. I'm not changing it, so there's no point in complaining about it (just saying).
No, it's not perfect, but I am working on fixing it for now. Not to mention, it's not on a perfect 90* angle to it.

Fix the straight sport and lopsided-ness of the loop and you'll be fine. Just do the pull-in to the lift section of the track now, and hey, you got a boomerang circuit! (I would say complete, but, it's a boomerang coaster!)
Will do! Thanks!
There is probably more pieces in the track than in the supports. Nice job, hope you finish on time.
I think it's evenly tied really. Thanks, and I hope so too......
good job , by backwards i ment that usually people build the loop first ,but no biggie
Thanks.
And now to give you all great news. So I tested the coaster, and now it doesn't clear the cobra roll now. I relubricated the car (just to be safe) and it still doesn't work. It looks liken now I'll have to experiment with different weights and hope there'll be one set that works, or else this coaster will just sit there and look pretty.

I think your planning is pretty bad to be honest. If I would have to do a project like this, especially with a difficult layout like this, I would make sure it runs full circuit weeks before the deadline.

I remember that Ryan definitely encountered this kinda problem when building Invertigo with tubes, so possibly change supports to boxes to have major support on the coaster and ensure no shaking. This would be the solution if it doesn't work whatsoever with tubes.

That's what I'm thinking about doing. I can move the 2nd lift hill over (chain) and give me at least a yellow rod's length more of track to go up.Lengthen the lifts?
How heavy are your cars? Does the track bend when the cars go over it? As annoying as these requests are, maybe we have a test video to see whats going on with the cars?

The cars are the standard cars, but I had 6 pennies per car (total of 24 pennies). It used to work with that amount, and now doesn't. I'm going to retrack the coaster, since there are track splices everywhere. With those 24 pennies, there isn't anything that really shakes either. I think boxes may be my last hope, but quite possibly an option.

After doing a bit of planning, there was no way this coaster was going to work the way it was, so the Cobra Roll, Loop, and the station was take apart and are now being rebuilt, smaller. I hope to finish within the next 8 hours, leaving me with an hour to start NXT programming and rebuilding the scenery which was taken down.
Wish me luck........

Eh, it's good and bad, but it mainly sucked because my gigantic cobra roll had to be scaled down. It looked so cool, but I think this new one looks good too. That sucks you have to redo all the track work.
I had the same feeling after I took apart the cobra roll. I'll let you be the judge of how well it turned out.I hope this went well... Because I really thing this looked promising.
You and me both!yeah that sucks about redoing it, hopefully it works out well
Thanks. For the video, I plan to be able to show a few cool aspects of the ride, and I'm working on a special segment as well....This looks great! i Can't wait to the video.
Funny, how it took me 3 months to build the 1st version of this coaster, but only 10 hours to build this over.
Here's a list of what was done to the coaster:
- everything but base and lift hills were taken apart
- Station was re-aligned and straightened
- Cobra roll was made smaller in height and length (to make room for loop's lateral change)
- My little brother worked on building the rest of the pathways while I build the little stands
What didn't occur yet is the re-positioning of the lift hill and the installation of the magnets for the lift hill (as a chain dog). What also needs to be done is the magnets on the catch car have to be re-straightened, since only 1 or 2 actually make contact and have a strong hold on the car, creating premature release.
Trust me, I really hope everything looks good because after school lets out, I have one hour until this thing has to be broken down into sections, then brought to school and re-assembled.... I'll post an update for how that goes tonight.
NEW overview
NEW station, reduced so the car will always land where it does right now. You can also see the new scenery installed.
NEWly revised loop; not perfect, but getting there.
Hmmm, a sign? Surely not the coaster's logo, so what would go there....?
Oooooh, I like the new Scenery. Hopefully they have a snow cone stand...... [/HINT]

The coaster itself was great. I needed to redo the catch car's magnets, and attach the magnets to the 2nd lift hill, but just from pull through, the cars made it all the way around, but didn't make it past the crest of the cobra roll (into the station) 2nd way through. When the cars are dried, I'll be relubricating them and testing it early tomorrow morning.

But sadly, K'Nex didn't really want to work last night. The catch car release didn't release the car at the top for some reason, so it had to be done manually, and since it didn't go up the hill all the way to the very top, it didn't clear the loop without a little tap to unstick it from being inverted. The 2nd lift hill also didn't feel like working either, so it was manually pushed up the lift hill and released, also not clearing the 2nd half of the cobra roll most of the time.
But I never gave anyone the name of my coaster, did I (except for Bart)?
School colors, and named after the school mascot.
More photos to come!
