1. I just bought the sS from eBay. Turns out the motor is not working properly. When I turn it on it goes really slow and makes an annoying sound, almost like stripped gears. Do you think that's the prolem?
2. The train gets stuck at top of lift. It will not go.
3. The train doesn't make it through the loop. It gets stuck at the top (I feel sorry for the riders) and I have to push it but it won't make it over the hill even if I am lucky enough for it to get through the loop.

the motor might be dieing or maybe just needs a bit of lube on the gears as for the crest and loop your shaping must be off or you did something when i made mine it was fine.

I had this problem recently with one of my motors. Going really slowly and making a loud high pitched screeching sound. What the problem actually was was friction within the motor itself so to fix it, you have to take your motor apart (remember how it goes back together) and apply some sort of lubrication to the axle of the motor (I think that's what it is) and hopefully, like mine, it will work pretty much as normal. Maybe with the motor working properly the train will make it over the lift and as for the loop: make sure all the track on the drop and the transition into the loop are perfectly smooth. Lubing the axles - not the wheels - of your cars may also help with the speed of the car so I would recommend it.

Make sure the chain is not hanging up on anything like the beginning of the center tubing at the bottom of the lift or any connectors on the return path. That can cause the same symptoms.

If you think you might need a new motor go back to eBay and look for a member that goes by the name forkidsofallages he has the best prices. He sells them at $9.99 or 12.99 depending on the quantity.

Just to make sure, are the batteries new? Old batteries can cause a motor to do that. You can just use the newer motors found in all Micro sets if you can't get a new SS motor.

Trust me dude i had this issue too you probably have a really old and,used ss set the that hasent been,taken,care off just lube it like they said and see if that helps the train never made the hill for me back then like four years ago!

Well, I lubed the motor and no more squeaks, just don't have any more AA's!!!! I also lubed the cars. WOW! This thing is a ROCKET now! Thanks for the help?

A-the lube made the gears weird
or
B-the gears are stripped out


Now I am buying a new motor.

The one I have works but very slow and very weak.

Maybe you just had a bad motor. Possibly used a lot and worn out. Probably the best option as some motors just aren't worth saving.
