Nice to be back :)

After starting to study mechanical engeneering (for obvious reasons) last Fall I finally got some time to build again.

This coaster is my really first attempt to go VV. My last coaster attempts failed to a lack of speed, space issues and time problems. After the very soon end of Scarab‘s comeback I totally went out of time. I still got my Dragons drop cars and the track and thought: „I might go for KNEX Micro invert instead to erease the space issue.“
And that worked excellently so far!

The layout for this coaster is not finished yet. But as you can see there is a Lifthill climbing through a big pyramid. Heading into an angled drop that ends in a dive loop.

This coaster will be a terrained coaster and egyptian themed. There is a 6 row custom 3D-printed train (except from the chassis) as well. Details will be later on.

It’s still unnamed but will be some egypt style name. Thought about „Son of Scarab“.

The layout:
- I‘m going to have some more inversions in this circuit such as Loop/ Zero-G-Roll, corkscrew and maybe a heartline roll
- The layout will be compact and terrained. So there will be some sub terrain sections, some hills and pyramids and a nice station as well.
- For better moving I build in sections. These sections have a new connecting system that works best for me.

The train:
- After being introduced to CAD in college I designed a B&M old school based train with parts being able to be conneted to the Knex Micro chassis. The seats, restrains and the Wheel assembly hides were printed on the Prusa i3 MK3.
- The pieces were coated with some gray Airbrush color (the restarins are red), assembled and attached to the chassis.

That's one sexy lift, and so is that custom train. IMO, the lift crest looks weird. If you're going for the B&M style, you should raise the pre-drop a little bit. Compare your lift with a B&M invert like Afterburner and you'll see what I'm talking about. :)

By the way, the video doesn't work for me. Edit: Never mind, it does. Looks like the speed loss is already kicking in.

I changed that and think that this is the most possible solution for me.

And yes the speed loss is really kicking in. I started this model with some elements i really wanted but you know it‘s not sturdy, it loses speed and yes... had to change some layout wishes :(
I‘ll work on a 3D printable chassis for VV track with some more accuracy and 3 wheels in one wheel assembley.
Maybe this‘ll help saving speed in future coasters.

Coaster update:

I finished the layout pretty fast but as mentioned some elements had to move.
The Dive Loop is followed by a Zero-G-Roll that ends in a sub terrain section.
After this section the train rushes through a croksrew that shows up above the terrain but ends sub terrain as well.
Followed by some curves and yes the train is totaly out of speed and returns to station:(

I didn‘t managet to take some pics of finished layout and I‘m not able to take some right now because it‘s disassembled for the moment. (I‘ll plan to reassemble this week)

I have some old pics with the Corkscrew but it moved a bit on an angle but you’ll see in the pics.

This is a pic with old Corksrew.

This is the section with new Corksrew and final curves.

I‘m working on the station currently and hope that it‘ll be finished by next week.

My opinion on VV is that the Invert spine from Boa and Lost works really well! Tube supports work well, too. And you can build a decent ride on smale scale.

On the other hand the train chassis really need some modification due to the hard speed loss.

That‘s it for this weekend hope to post more upcommung week!!

This is looking fantastic so far - loving your attention to detail! Your spine looks great and it's always nice to see some innovation, especially in VV.

As for the name, I'm all in favour of Son of Scarab. Of course, coasters with the "Son of" prefix haven't always fared too well, but I'm sure you'll be fine :P ! Good luck!

I love the trains! Brilliant work. How exactly did you make the spine- what part is that?

This looks fantastic. I love this style of spine on VV inverts.

I love the look of VV when it's done well and this definitely is. The only problem I have with VV is speed retention, but I think despite this you have made a really nice layout.
