It's been a while, hasn't it?

Instead of going for any particular style, I've decided to just wing it. That being said, I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't looking at Lech Coaster for inspiration.

This is going to be something compact and twisty.

Wow, was that almost a year ago already?
So we had to scale it down. Way down.
We just don’t have the time or space for anything tube-supported right now. I knew something needed to change when my kid would ask what he could help me with, followed by a long and awkward pause….. Maybe five was a little too early. We’re both just kinda learning our important life lessons as we go. 😅

So we tried it again at six years old now! We started again from scratch. I would give him lengths of track and have him show me what he wanted it to do next, there would be some compromise, and then I would do the supporting. Rinse and repeat, keeping everything confined to that corner of his bedroom.

He learned the basic principles of box building. I taught him knex math (two greens equal a blue, two whites equal a yellow, etc). It was a great bonding experience, and we only broke a few micro elbows and two gray rods. He loved decorating all the open connectors with flexi-rods. And then he asked me to build an elevator on the side so his lego figures can ride up and watch the coaster go around. At the end of it all, he decided on calling it Rollercoaster World!

I’m hoping to try another build sometime in the future. We’ll see.
