It's the first construction day and now already the structure hits the 7 feet. Now I can't continue with the same structure...have to built a separate second piece.

I'm working on the heartlined roll on the part where the train goes down. I'll get another picture when this 7 feet piece is completed.

Still working on the twist. The straight part at the other side of the tower is done on this huge piece.
Pic 1: top part (4 ft. 6)
Pic 2: second part (7 ft.)

EDIT
Unfortunately the construction pictures got lost over the years.

Two older construction pictures and two new construction pictures

Below this the pull-up and pull-out will start. They will be massive: 13 feet.

haha you're already running out of red/green rods. Its gonna be really time consuming when you have to build with two blue rods connected with a black/orange connector...

Looks good though, i cant wait to see this put together!

Yeah, this thing eats a lot of those rods. My Dad will leave for Canada tomorrow morning, it's about 12PM here now. A week later he will be back with my new pieces :D Including 500 red rods.
Do you think that a 13 ft. pull-out and pull-up will be okay? I'll have to have them big sized, otherwise I'll have to redo the whole twist again :S

How I'm gonna get this monster up? Well, I'll have to assemble it outside laying horizontal in the garden. Then I'll pull the whole 25 feet structure vertical with ropes. I'll have to make this thing really sturdy...
To me the tophat is more important than the camelback. Should I use an insane amount of pieces on the tophat to make it sturdy or should I save on pieces for the camelback?

Well you really wont need an insane amount of pieces for the camel back(I think i could have used less on mine). Just make sure that the columns on the ground spread out, which will stablize it more. I wouldnt be so sure you can pull it up with ropes. Even if you have heavy duty ones, the ropes will possibly break where you are lifting up.

1) Have you thoroughly thought out how you will get it out of your house?

2) Aren't you afraid that the 3D connectors will buckle?

Still thinking whether I should make this with or without a camelback... I already know that if I would place one, it wouldn't fit totally.
Getting it out of the house isn't a problem, just detaching the big pieces into small pieces.
Nope, I'm not really afraid about the 3D connectors, but because of them I want to use more pieces in the tophat to secure those 3D connectors.

I guess this will be like TTD.

I entered it for the Guinness World Records, so I'll take my time. On top of that, I'll be having finals in a week.
But but but... tomorrow I'll pick up my knex from the airport (well, I'll pick up my Dad there too :P)
I won't update as much as I did before, and I'm not building as much as before, but stay tuned for news on this monster.

CC10 :D

I would not worry about the ropes breaking. I'm sure they can hold the weight. I would be worried about which ever pieces on your structure you tie the ropes to coming unsnapped from the model. I did a similiar thing as you with my Crazy Comet in the gallery. When I was standing it up after adding to its height by building on the bottom of the structure, it came crashing down. I repaired it right away and finally stood it up. That was before I took the pictures. Just be careful of where and how you attach the ropes.

I got new pieces and I'll use them to make the tower extra-extra-extra sturdy.
I'm trying to build the pull-out after the twist, but I don't have much time right now :(
Btw, the structures between the 3 main towers of the big tower will be much bigger, so the 3 towers are better connected to each other.

The pull-out after the twist, currently purple tubed.

The track above the cross supports (between the towers) may be bumpy here. Later, when the track has been connected to the other pieces, it will be slightly twisted, so the bumps will be gone.

The pull-up after the launch, currently red tubed.

I started working on the launch track, which will be 12 feet long.

*EDIT*
Unfortunately this kind of launching doesn't really work well. I'll change the launch cage to a single rubberband launch. This also means that the train will contain 5 cars, instead of 6.

Hmmm... between the turn to the launch run and the pull-out of the tower is 14 ft 8. That part has to contain brakes... suggest me how to build a massive zero-g roll. I have never built one and I don't know how much space it takes. Remember there has to be enough space after the roll for brakes!
