And it's done! Sort of... I have to fix a few things but for the most part it's done. The top lift plates are jacked up and too thick so the ties cannot fit. I am going to re-design them to be a spine rather than a plate. The plastic I used for the spine bends weird. I am thinking about going to the same piece but in aluminum to add strength. Everything works but the chain tends to not disengage from the motor sprocket, so I am adding a guide between the lower lift plates to stop this problem. I still need to design the chain dogs on the train and have an idea that may work. Anyways, here are some pics.

I know this may seem noob-ish, but what do CD coasters have as standard instead of chain?

Please forgive the nooby-ness of this post..

Looks really realistic,

^There is a very long spiral-shaped spring inside a pre-made spine. A motor makes the spiral rotate. The rotating spiral gets the train up the track.

You should try to make a chain guide...

Possibly...but that's further down the line. Problem is that the chain guide would be quite large in proportion to the track so I may not want to add it. We will see.

Here is an idea of the new top lift assembly. It will be made from a 3/8 inch square rod milled down to .35 square. Then I will mill the cut-outs and drill the holes. I like this design better since it's easier to work with the rod than the sheet metal. And I can get more accurate results with the mill than the jigsaw.

Nice lift there.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of coaster is it (obviously not an Invert)?

WHO SPAMS MY THREAD?!?!?!

Um I have no progress on this. Well sort of. I am planning an automated transfer track to be part of the project and so far I've ordered and received materials. But I've been so busy that I haven't even finalized my design.

looks rly nice, i would start working on the layout while the lift s coming along though and i think u should put the chain in a guide so the train can follow the shape of the track back down to the station nw pics soon i hope ;p

1. Dont bumb dead threads, after one month with out any posts and its dead.
2.Please use proper grammer, spelling and puncuation.
3.Don't double post. In the bottom right hand corner of every post you make is an EDIT Buttom Please use it next time.
4. The smiley is alright everyone makes them :P
5. Please try to get a new name. It is very unoriginal.

Let the thread go back to sleep.

Sleep thread, sleep. Thou who awoke it shall die!

I have some ideas but have been too busy to attempt anything. I ran into a problem on the lift but I had an idea for some other mechanical projects. If I have any progress I will post it. Until then, let it sleep or die!
