this is my last attempt at making a thread about enigmo. if no one cares, then lock it. i could honestly care less. i just want people to know my level of building, and everyone hates me. if spamming is bothering you, then by all means, i'll stop. i just want to be able to show my work on this site and have people tell me what to fix. this site is almost my life, i check it every day, but...


anyways, unlike last time, i now have pics because in my last thread i thought i would have pics from no limits but my pc blanked out on me, so i didn't have time to start the thread in construction.

anyways, i've made the launch, gear shaft (for drill), and pullin to the overbanked turn which will go on top of my ping pong table downstairs. i brought it up to my kitchen because my parents hid my laptop, so i cant take pictures on that. my mom has an imac, so thats why i cant get good shots of the construction.

ok, here's some pics of the drill i have, no drill bit on, but i need help on how to connect the knex rod to the drill securely, to eliminate slipping.

^ Dude, twist the head of the drill to make it open. Stick the piece in. Twist it the other way to tighten it.

UPDATE (no video, sadly reasons why below)

well, the launch works great, goes super fast, like 40 mph (lol exaggerating a little) except the gold/tan clip that locks the red gear to the drill axle keeps flying off/breaking. it worked fine earlier today, but... idk. also, the launch cant take the weight of the train, or even a single car for that matter, so i dont know what to do, or how to strengthen it.

your gear is way too low

yeah that's going to make it ubber fast and make it throw the chain even if the drill is going at it's 3rd lowest speed just uses one blue gear.

Now about the coaster. the launch is a bit bumpy and the pullin isn't constantly flowing in the same radius but I think you'll fix that when you continue building.

Do you really need to put those gears in there too? I think that a drill can turn fast enough to give it some good speed...

Also, have you tried putting a gold/tan clips on both sides of the gear yet?

^i have one, but whats your point? all it does is tighten it...

^^well, i know that the drill can turn fast, but i want this to be REALLY fast, so i made that whole huge gear thing. and no, i havent put clips on both sides. will that help/keep them from flying off across the room?

^^^the chain isnt the problem, thats fine. its just the gold/tan clip on the gear.

The chain is gonna be a problem when you launch it. And Mike is talking about the chain gears. They need to be a lot higher.

^ok, i added another set of gears since i dont want to have to move the whole gear shaft, and it actually works great, and i lubed the trains/track, but the launch wont get it up. then i tried full speed, and yet another casualty in the gold/tan clip category...

lol at the end when i produce the final video and stuff i'll be like

"and now, after the lives of so many gold and tan clips have been thrown in the garbage, i bring you:" lol

ok, well heres an update video. i think its because i added the other set of gears, but suddenly it can hold up the force of one car, yet it still doesnt make it all the way up the half-hill.

One thing DONT FORCE THE CAR OFF THE TRACK LIKE THAT! You will BREAK it! It didnt look like the drill was on full speed/torque there might be a knob or something on the drill to change that.

^the drill is speed-changeable, meaning the harder you press the trigger, the faster it goes. i cant do full speed, because thats what breaks the little clip thing that holds the gear in place.

you need to jsut attach your drill directly to the rod connected to the gear.

^but that wont go as fast... i want it to be able to get the car/train up to the height of my ping pong table, because my layout plans include a part that goes on top of it.

I need to see a video focusing on the tan clip breaking off or a picture of where it is. I bet something is hitting it because it can't just pop off like that.
