This tutorial shows how to make station gates that automatically open and shut. You can build up to five gates with one gate per car.

I ran out of spacers for this tut so I used some connectors in place of spacers.

Any connector = 2 blue spacers = 2/3s of a grey spacer


There two different shaped motors. One is rounded on the edges and the other one is a more square shape. You need the motor with rounded edges like the one in this picture. The square one won't work. I'm pretty sure the rounded one comes with the SS, so most of you should have that one.

The arrows indicate pieces to add.


This is the switch the train hits. If it doesn't work when the train hits it remove the blue spacers between the grey connector pieces.




Make sure the motor is positioned the right way.

The motor is the WRONG way in this picture. Look up two pictures to see the right way.


















Add the four black clips to top of the green rods as shown in this picture.










Make sure you put on the right amount of spacers. Any connector = Two blue spacers

Build five of these. Make sure the tan connector has it's nose sticking into the middle hole of the red 90* connector. Also make sure the tan connector on top is pointing in the exact same direction as in the picture.


The black clip should be turned like this.


It should NOT be like this.


Put all five of the pieces you built into the places indicated by the arrows. The next picture will show how.




Connect the black clip pieces as shown.


Now it should look like this.


Build five of these. Make sure you have the red 90* connectors turned the right way.


Put the five pieces on as shown in the picture. Again, put all the tan connector's noses into the middle hole of the red 90* connectors.


Now it should look like this.


Now connect the two pieces you have built. The arrow is pointing at a grey connector that was not there before that you need to add.

Wow, this is...confusing. Why the heck did you make it so complicated?
Also, could you take a video of it? I don't know what it does.

Does the train also switches the motor off?

Simple.... His motor turns off after one revolution.... however he figured out how to do that.

Looks great man I see you were able to make them stay open a long time.

I'm gonna modify mine when I get my soldering iron to fix my Cyber knex ultra motors.

How will it make the train leave that station or does it do that already?

^ I didn't include a way for it to leave the station. The easiest way would be to just have two trains and have one push the other out.

Also probably the best way to get the car into the station is to use a tire drive like I did in the video. You can hook it up to the motor on the gates or use a different motor.
