If abused, yes. Most everything abused will harm you. Just because alcohol in excessive amounts can hurt me doesn't mean I'm not going to enjoy a few drinks every now and then.

Same with weed. Honestly my girlfriend's entire family lives in San Francisco and smokes a joint or two a day and I can say that they are not dumber or slower people. So don't spew this utter BS just because you read it from an article.

The second part just busted your argument.

First you say it does make you dumber when abused, then you say it's bullshit and doesn't make you dumb. Second, it's a basic fact.

You inserted the word "dumb" into my first statement so as to connect it to my second statement in order to show that I contradicted myself. Would have been a good job except...

I didn't ever say that excessive amounts of weed will make you dumb.

I said excessive amounts of anything can harm you. Eat too much food, you can die. Too much water, you can die. Too much anything, you can die. I exemplified it with alcohol because it is a legal "drug" that I feel is similar to weed in that it should be allowed in moderation. I never implied or said that pot has no long term side effects. In fact I never said anything about pot being bad, I just defended that it does not make you dumb. I know for a fact that it can impair your reaction times, permanently. That doesn't mean it makes you dumb.

My second point was pointing out that even though I do not have enough experience with smoking pot, my girlfriend's family does and they are in no way dumb or stupid. I know lot's of other people that have smoked their whole life and are not dumb.

So don't bring that BS to the argument just because the opposition believes it to be true. I have not seen a single study that actually links smoking weed to becoming dumber.

However if you read my first post again:

I should have been clear that the last part is a 'conclusion'.
Drugs do destroy your braincells the same way alcohol does too. And the fewer braincells... You get my point I hope

Once again, if abused, yes smoking pot can kill brain cells. And I'm sure both pot and alcohol kill brain cells while drinking / smoking in moderation yet it is not enough to be noticed.

You keep mentioning that it kills brain cells but you have no indication of how many or how it relates to typical brain cell loss. Over time brain cells die and cannot be replenished. Many daily activities can kill brain cells. So to only point out that pot or alcohol kills brain cells without making any relation to typical brain cell loss puts no significance on the fact that pot can kill brain cells.

I am willing to bet that although pot kills brain cells, if smoked in moderation, this loss is insignificant. Same goes for alcohol and today we are allowed to drink it and are informed to do so in moderation.

And the fact that you keep connecting it to alcohol, which is perfectly acceptable in moderation, doesn't help your point. All it's telling me is that smoking pot should be allowed in moderation too.

And my point about it making you dumb was to show that even everyday use for many years, such the case with my girlfriend's family, hasn't affected their level of intelligence or made them dumb. It may not have been clear but I was pointing out that their use was still not enough to harm them in any significant way. I'm sure that if pot were smoked more than advised then there would be a noticeable harm...just like drinking way too much alcohol.

You have a point there, I do not know how much it affect the loss of braincells compared to the amount of damage that is caused by alcohol.

However my opinions might be biased, I'm just anti-drugs. The reason being that a couple of my best friend almost went down the gutter because of it. They are pretty much broke now and started to care more about having fun than being busy with school. The only right thing to do is to find a balance between those two things. School is your future and if I want to live after my dreams I darn well do the best I can at school.

I once sat right next to them when they were doing pot, they even offered me. Something I will not forgive them. That was the worst time of my life besides my father's death.

People make the argument that cigarettes kill more people - easy solution, ban cigarettes!
I also think it should remain illegal because then we get to listen to the news stories about some baked idiot who called the police to ask if "it was okay to have a very little marijuana plant"

It should always be illegal. It would be really annoying for everyone to walk around high. I don't want to smell the stuff 24/7. More people will probably die from the stupid things they do while high such as driving. The list is even longer but I don't feel like ranting.
