^ And take a lot of video!
True, you can't film your coaster in 30 minutes, it takes time, you need a lot of diversity in the clips. Fixed shots, panning shots, tilting shots, close ups, mediums, overviews, birds-eye, frog-eye. Maybe even some wacky shots like the ones Jogumpie gave me from Looping Star (The final shot).
When somebody wants me to make a video I usually get too few clips and I have to recycle a couple which are already used.
Make sure there is lots of light but it shouldn't cause any nasty shadows. When filming, start filming way before the train arrives at the location you want to capture, it's better to have longer clips than clips that cut right at the moment the train leaves the element. Some camera have some trouble capturing the last second or so when you press the button. Or you press the button in such a way the camera shakes a little. You want to be able to cut those parts of.
If you want to go pro you should label all the clips in different folders (or change the file name) like: Overview_1a or Closeup_loop_2b. This makes editing much easier as you don't have to stroll through a gazillion clips.
Anther thing is, don't take anything down until you are happy with the final video.
Hope this will help you make a kick ass video!
