Northeast Winter of 2010-2011?

Look up a few words in a thesaurus and see what comes up.

Sorry that I already used that name. :P And about the chain dog, I have never found that it adds any friction, it ran exactly the same for me on Ion. It can cause problems if it rolls back and hits a piece of spliced middle tubing though, like Suck said.

Hey guys been a while since I had an update. I have been working on this but so much of what I have been doing is details of the structure and I don't think it would be obvious to you what I have done.

I finished the double dip and the next turn around. This one is kind of a turning hill and will lead in to the second biggest drop (still small) of this ride. It's really slow going at this point because I have to take parts of the structure apart just to make holes to get my hands on the track and then put that all back together.

Do you guys approve of this element? I know it is a little bumpy but it is really hard to shape it inside the structure. I'll go over it a few more times. Feel free to point out anything that looks really bad.

In this picture you can see some of the internal bracing of this big turn. This thing is so solid now it can be picked up and moved and remains in one piece. (hmmm wonder if I could take this for a ride to my daughters school.....)

POVs

Entry (the light and shadows make this look bumpier than it really is)

edit: I fixed that middle tube bump

Exit (I see that bump right below the white half moon)

I really like how this is coming along! The overall shaping of the ride with the minimal amount of X-ties is just flawless, and the compact layout is again, amazing. I hope you can pull off an amazing ending for this ride and I don't have any doubt that you will. ;)

On the fourth pic, the middle tubing isn't connected to one of the crossties.

Perhaps you can try to fix the position of the flexi-rods that stick out. Purely cosmetic, but it makes it look much better. :)
Really like this 'indoor' turn.

^^got that

^ yeah I know they bug me too. It's tough with so few cross ties. In the turns the spacing shifts and I can't always fit a ladder connector between them. I'll play with it.

Worst case I might tape them with clear tape so the look continuous.

I was waiting for comments because I was not sure about the banking. I initially built it with a lot more bank but felt it looked overbanked and did not fit the style. I flattened it out on purpose but then worried it was too flat.

Glad you like it.

Picture 5 looks like quite some weird spot, and on the 3th picture I see some inconsistence at the crest/top of the turn.
Looks like the first half of the crest should be less sharp.

Other then that, I really like how this thing is coming along.
Since I haven't seen a lot of concurrention yet, I think you have quite a big chance on winning this:)

^you just have to wait.... mwuhahaha :)
I have to agree with Bart that your shaping looks a bit awkward on picture 5, please smooth it out. Are you going to do two more turns and then back into the station?

Thanks guys I'll try to smooth that out before building more. The remainder of the layout is...

at the bottom of the drop coming out of this turn it will bend to the left a little, up over the first drop and then to the right a little and make a left hand turn through the middle of the other turn structure. There is a hole near the bottom of the lift for it to get through and there will be a few small bunny hops under the lift. One more left turn through the bottom of this big turn, a small dip and into the station. If I don't have enough energy to get up to the station I will put a short upward inclined "brake" (actually be a lift) to pull it in to the station.

Yes it is a loose interpretation of a real coaster. No one has tried to guess yet.

I reshaped the exit of that turn. Let me know if you see any more bumps.

2nd pic, looks like a bit of either a bump, excess track, or bad camera angle where there's a bit of a gap of crossties. Fix that and your good.

I see that in the middle of the cross ties you put flexies is it better to put tubing or flexies in the middle?

^depends on the coaster, if you have a lot of crossties, then tubing, but if you have a little amount of crossties, then you could do either or.
