Both recreations, both the same type of coaster and both were awesome! After building Goliath SFOG I know how hard it is to build with tubes at such a scale. I think CAC did a very good job at keeping speed and keeping the shaking as least as possible, so my vote goes to Apollo's Chariot.

I was rather anti-Diamondback in the past, but I have set that aside. Still, I prefer the Chariot over Diamondback.

Apollo's Chariot was more realistic, since it has tube supports. ;)

Maarten...CAC? AC was built by MCM.

Obviously I am a DBack fanboy but just the sheer size and smoothness of DB is what does it for me. I'm sure even Mike himself would agree (where ever he may be)...

Not to mention DB is my #3 coaster in real life haha.

One reason I chose Diamondback was that other tube-supported hypers like Apollo have been built since then. But nothing has ever come close to matching Diamondback's combination of size and quality.

Diamondback. For me it doesn't come down to boxes vs. tubes, but the quality of the track and shaping. Looking at pictures of both of them, I think that Diamondback has superior trackwork, and it's at a larger scale.

Both recreations, both good trackwork, both quite large on scale...
So...eh...Appolo's Chariot...

Apollo's Chariot had some track work issues while DB had flawless track work with a gigantic scale. DiamondBACK!

Personally, I think it's ridiculous to give bonus points to people who build with tubes, rather than start judgement on a level field. Performance should be the first thing anyone looks at in a coaster, not appearance. If people choose build with tubes, they choose to sacrifice performance for more realistic appearance. There should not be a double standard here. This is not me thinking Apollo sucks, because it doesn't. Apollo is one of my favorite coasters and would pick it over most other coasters, box and tube alike. But to ignore the flaws that knowingly come with tube coasters just because they look better is a smack to the face of every box builder out there.

Sorry Apollos chariot I thought diamondback was much smoother in track, but I'll ride it in the summer when I go to the theme park.

They are both modelled after real coasters.

I think Diamondback remains one of my favorite coasters on the site. The sheer scale, effort and shaping of it. Not to say Apollo's isn't a good recreation, but seriously, Diamondback is mindblowing.
