other rocket coasters be shut down to? It sounds like TTD is having some serious
cable problems as this is the second or third time I have heard of it snapping this
year.

know how when you break something it usually breaks into 2 large pieces and many
small pieces? I think the many small pieces came up into the riders at 120 mph and hit
them. As for the grease burn thing I have no clue what that could have been.

the sled? I mean if the cable snaps it will go forward, the slep is under the train, when
the sled comes out from under the train it would explode. Thats what I think will
happen. Intiman better be careful or they will get there @$$ seued by

Would
LIM's work on TTD? I'm just wondering because the cable sure is giving
them a lot of trouble. I'm not saying that they will replace the cable with
LIM's, I just want to know if they would work.

LIMs would not work on TTD because the launch run is too short. CP looked into
building a LIM launched coaster but it would take up too much space. Hydraulics
were the best option.

The sled can not go forward without the train. It works just like a chain dog, theOriginally posted by Twister II@Jul 14 2004, 12:59

cable snapped. what about the sled? I mean if the cable snaps it will go forward, the

train can go over it, but it can not go faster than the train. Usually the cable snaps right
when it first launches because this is when the most stress is put on the cable. The
sled is also attached to the track and can not come off. unless it breaks in half.

Also
LIMs I dont think can acclerate the train to 120 in 4seconds. Look at B&R:TC
70 in 4 sec. Even Superman:The escape wouldnt work just because it would take so
much power and cost a fortune

Steel cables aren't known to break into

This is a terrible year for the amusement park
industry.
IMO it’s not near as bad
as last year

I don’t
think Cedar Fair would sue. Intamin and Cedar Point are on a pretty good friendly
basis, but it’s weaking. So, it's still a possiablity.
Another thing is. I
have read from eyewitness accounts from people on such sites as the pointol.com and
various other point sites that these big peices of metel were certainly not very big at
all. The news is blowing this way out of porportion! The news said two people
went to the hospital. Yes, two people did go to the hospital, but they were rejected
because they weren't hurt. If you listen to the news on some channels they
squeeze in at the end. "Authorities have stated the worse injurys were nothing
more than the size of a bee sting. All this was, was little specks of metal.
The only reason two people went to the hospital was because they want to get some
money out of this, and now they probably won't get any.(One thing that makes
me mad, is people who sue over everything)
There was no reports of
people getting hit in the eye with debris. That's the only concern I really had
after hearing how small the peices are.
Now on the news they had a kid
who said he was hit in the head with debris and I think that was the funniest thing
I've ever seen on the news. There was no noticable scratches, cuts, or anything
at all.
As for TTD re-opening this season, I think there is a slim chance it
will re-open. However even little things flying off, is too dangerous to operate a ride. I
think Intamin and the engineers working on this ride, are going to have to think up a
new design. Now even if they have to use something like LIM's by putting new
track in could possiably happen. Even though LIM's probably won't get the
coaster over the hump, they'll think of something!

it had to have went about 120 mph. The cable had to have broke at the end of the
launch. This is not Intamins fault in any way except maybe the design. They do not
manufacture the cables, and this was clearly a problem with a poorly made cable, or
an overlooked problem during inspections, which I seriously doubt.
