Yep, my next coaster has arrived!! This will be a hypercoaster based off of Magnum XL 200 at Cedar Point. I have a new working space also. This is planned to be one of my longest and best coasters yet. My layout will include plenty of airtime-a possible mix of both floater and ejector. As of now I have part of the lift and the whole drop done. I'm not entirely sure about how the drop's shaping is compared to Magnum though. It's been a little difficult to nail that kind of shape. Pics, and be sure to compare...

My drop. In the back, you can see a chunk of my lift. I broke it up so I could at least put the drop on a table.

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to read again. Ignore the following.

2 things:

1. How are you going to have enough speed for the ENTIRE layout? You'll have to make it at LEAST 5 feet to be able to do the whole layout.
2. If you want a realistic recreation, try modeling it after the actual coaster, not what seems most logical (even if it makes your coaster look ugly). Do a Morgan crest, not a B&M or other company crest.

Otherwise, looks good as a coaster, but not as Magnum XL-200.

If you want a good layout maybe make it a red rod taller, the rest looks great though.

Your [K'nex] coaster should be a bit higher, and if you're basing the drop off of the [real] coaster, then you should have it be less steep.

This should be a fun build, Pretty soon their will be two morgans being built(hint-hint). And swimzone's right, if your shooting for a morgan hyper the drop needs to be less steep.

G Force: Thanks, I would've made it taller but I don't have the pieces for that. I'll do my best to squeeze a decent layout in.

Hmmmm.....I'm still unsure about the shape, although I belive I did make it a bit less steep.

Renegade, it looks like a Morgan drop to me. The short height is probably what's throwing the look off (not enough height for an exaggerated flat spot at the top). And this isn't a recreation...

Outerlimits: You really should add to the height of the lfit, at least to 4ft. I'm not sure what your layout is though.

In all honesty, I'd make it a tad taller. That's all I got.

For some reason that looks a lot better. Nice, but if you want it EXACTLY, don't make the entire lift one structurel If you look at magnum, about 1/2 way up there's a support alone. That would make it look more realistic. But that's just nitpicky. :tmbs

^^Thanks, I recycled my last drop's support structure so I don't really have to redo it-just modify it slightly.

^Thanks, means a lot from you. I made the column like you suggested, and it's saved me some pieces along with making it more like Magnum. :tmbs

And now a small, single pic update. I added some tubing onto the crest and start of the drop. Took me awhile to upload this photo due to Imageshack acting up again......:durh


No, some of those lift supports aren't stressed. I just need to slide them back into position.

If you want it more like Magnum you'll need to keep it less steep where you are right now, then go into the real drop.
