Hi everyone, this is my first post although I am not completely new to k'nex. I will be attempting to recreate 'The Smiler' from alton towers however I do realise a full recreation will be very difficult to complete for me. I have so far built the station and first inversion (the heartline roll). Hopefully you can all see the attached pictures and any comments would be appreciated. Also, feel free to point out any flaws/issues you spot.

Everything looks good so far. The only critique I have is that the brown ladders on the track in the 3rd picture look bad due to the large gaps between the X-ties.

I'm not done building yet.

I hadn't noticed thank you. Replaced them now :)

New update: I'm going away for a bit so thought I'd post what I've managed to do. Finished the batwing and hoping I have enough space for the cobra roll. If I don't have enough space I was thinking of making the base one grey rod (an 86mm one) high instead of the half rods but also thought I could make the base just one layer to save pieces in the end. I also realise the tube supports aren't entirely accurate but as long as they somewhat are similar, I don't mind.

Once again please do comment and give any advice/criticisms.

just remember the part you just finished is the lowest part of the ride. and for a knex car to do an element at the same hight for the next part as the first part is going to take a lot of speed.

Wow, looks great!  This will take quite a bit of skill to pull off.  Good luck!

I'm sure it comes as no surprise to everyone that I've had to give up. Despite trying to save pieces for every rod and connector, I forgot about cross-ties, leading me to barely having 200 left when I was nowhere near half way through the coaster. Hopefully, many years in the future, I'll have enough pieces to do it.

Attached is what I managed to build and I've also started building a new coaster...
