I just read something about this last night when I was looking for KD rumors. I heard it was going to be a Tony Hawk or a Dark Knight. I don't really belive it though.

bump!Valencia, CA (LA Times) - Six Flags Magic Mountain will add its 17th roller coaster in 2010, bringing the Valencia amusement park into a tie for the most coasters in the world, officials said.

Scheduled to open in early summer 2010, the family coaster will be located in the northwest corner of the park between the looping Déjà Vu coaster and the Johnny Rockets Shakes and Fries food stand.

The steel coaster moves Magic Mountain into a statistical tie with Ohio’s Cedar Point for the coveted title of “roller coaster capital of the world,” according to Roller Coaster Database.

Magic Mountain expects to unveil the name, theme and logo for the new ride by the end of November.

In 2009, Magic Mountain installed the $11-million Terminator wooden coaster (shown above), its first new coaster since 2006.

Sure, you can pack a park full of non expensive kiddie rides just to break the record...but Cedar point is filled with hugely expensive rides, and doesn't Six flags already have a kiddie coaster type ride? Goliath Jr.?

My Guess would be a Tony Hawk Big Spin type coaster.

Not so much a kiddie coaster, but more of a family coaster. It's exactly what they need.

Maybe a Wild Mouse?

I remember from the Tatsu documentary that a park has about 2 years in which the roller coaster is recognized as new and after that they need a new big thing. I think that is just the problem with many parks in the USA. They just keep building these huge thrill machines without spending much thought on the rest of the family. Good for us coaster junkies, but without family attractions I find a park severely unbalanced.

It's so obvious they want the crown back with this. Terminator was a needed addition, this I can't say it is yet. Not to mention all the rumors for the 50th Six Flags Anniversary in 2011. 3 coasters in 3 years...really?

SFOG's last new coaster was 2006, SFNE in 2005, SFKK in 2003, and SFA in freaking 2001.

At least Cedar Fair knows how to share the wealth...

For being the "Xtreme" park, they sure have quite a few kiddy coasters.

IMO, the park needs this. There aren't many family attractions and this is a fine addition. Besides, Roller Skaters are entertaining.
